Exclusive Interview with Falcons

Exclusive Interview with Falcons

Falcons is an amalgamation of many things, a boiling pot of styles and genre-free influence. The musical tastes range from world music to southern rap, and everything in between. The only rules are to push the boundaries of conventional R&B, Rap and electronic music, exploring new directions, but never losing site of the dance floor.

Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Falcons, shortly before his performance at Grease on 30th May.

You were a dancer (House and B-Boying) for over 12 years. It was when you got inured that you took the time to get into music production. Your music is a fresh fusion of Bass Music, R&B and electronic music. How would you describe your own music in just a few words?

Shit that u can groove to. Turn up or turn down too.

In November 2013 you released your debut EP “Birdcall” and in this March you have been guest artist on Diplo’s renowned BCC Radio 1 show “Diplo & Friends” alongside Borgore. What’s next on your agenda and what are you currently and focusing and working on?

It's been a crazy year so far… right now I'm readying a project with my homies in LA, DJ Hoodboi, Promnite, and Kittens… we're going to launch a mix tape and form a crew… it will be out very soon and its really a new aesthetic and vibe that LA doesn't have so much of right now, we're trying to bring a more sexy vibe back to electronic dance music.
Also working on another original EP, this time with all original vocals from artists… thats a very important thing to me.

You made some exciting remixes and bootlegs – amongst others, of “Oh!” (Ciara), “She’s A B*tch (Missy Elliot) and “Yala” (M.I.A.). What other tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

I make music u can chill to, and turn up too… i think if ur trying to turn up u should listen to Vroom, Stilletos, Be Quiet, and Cell… stuff like that.
But if ur trying to chill with ur girl or drive around, listen to I Just Go remix, or Persian Rugs bootleg.
Its important to me to give my listeners multiple vibes, I'm not just a turn up dude.

You have performed at the prestigious Boiler Room and at Red Bull Music Academy’s “This City Belongs to Me”. What was the best and the worst gig you ever played and what was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?

Hahaha Boiler Room was really dope, but that was also an awkward one because the power blew out towards the hype part of my set… it was in a cutty ass warehouse in downtown LA and i don't think it could handle the bass hahaa…
I think some of my best shows have been in Vancouver… i started my career when i lived there, and it always has a sentimental vibe to it.
Coachella was pretty crazy to lol.

You live in Los Angeles. What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife there? Do you have any nightlife related suggestions for first-time visitors?

LA is famous for the hollywood high heels and14$ cocktail scene… and if thats ur thing, its easy to find… but what people don't know about LA is how popping the underground party scene is here… we have a lot of warehouse parties, theres lots of crews of musicians, djs, artists etc that throw amazing warehouse parties… sometimes legal sometimes not hehehe.
They can be hard to find but if u keep up with ur favourite LA crews via social media, u might find the hints on there.
Crews to follow: Athletixx, Team Supreme, Fade2mind, Lil Death, Kesh, MOD

On 30th May you will live perform live here in Bangkok at Grease, on the occasion of CMYK’s 5th anniversary & Sneaka Villa’s 8th anniversary. Have you visited Thailand before? Will it be your Bangkok debut? What can we expect of your upcoming performance?

First time in Thailand mannnn…. very excited to go out there! I'm just gonna bring y'all a taste of whats going on in LA right now… we have an explosion of talented producers out here and i can't wait to share some brand new music, as well as the classics ;)
