Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Tritonal, shortly before their performance at Levels on 3rd September.

Where are you answering these questions?

Hi Guys, Dave and I are in the studio now in Austin, TX. We live here, and really love it. Given that we're from the US, it puts us smack in the middle of whats going on in N America. We love the music, the food and culture that comes with living in the Capitol city. Austin has a huge University which keeps the city young and vibrant.

You are an American DJ & Production duo and co-owners of the Enhanced Recordings record label. How did each of you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place, how did you get into DJing and music production, how did you meet and what made you team up?

Chad: Well we came from different angles actually. Dave was a kid when he was introduced to dance music by family members, and his source was old CD"s he'd buy of Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Tiesto. I was a few years older than Dave and got into club music by experiencing some of the early raves back in 1998 -2000. My heroes were Sasha & Digweed, Nick Warren, Gabriel & Dresden, Paul Oakenfold, Chemical Brothers and the likes. We met around 2007 when I was finishing my degree at The University of Texas and Dave was a freshman in College in Washington DC. We became friends by working on this Virus TI Synthesizer forum where we'd discuss sound design tricks n tips online. We started to listen to music together online and realized we had similar tastes. Dave ended up taking a family trip to Austin, and during that time period we connected and worked on a couple of remixes! We loved it, and the rest was history!

You produce electronic dance music, with a focus on Progressive House and Trance. How would you describe your own music in just a few words?

Energetic, Uplifting, Sexy are key words for us. We write a lot of real songs, spend loads of time working on lyrics and song writing before we get to the production process. For us, writing dance music is more than just rocking a floor - although that's obviously important!

You have released over 200 original productions, have remixed for artists such as ZEDD & Hardwell and are best known for your tracks “Colors” and “Now Or Never”. What other tracks, remixes or mix-sets would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

Dave: Ahh thanks! Well, definitely check out our new "Untouchable" with Cash Cash! It has almost 10 million plays on Spotify, and we're doing a 50 City N American Bus Tour this year to celebrate the record. Other records are "Anchor", "Satellite", "Still With Me" and our newest club monster is a weird ass tune titled "GAMMA GAMMA"!! Been destroying floors!!

You founded Tritonal in 2007. Looking back on eventful and equally successful years, what was the best and the worst gig you ever played and what were the funniest things ever occurred during any of your performances?

Chad: We once played a show in Surabaya, where there were literally like 20 ppl there and they all sat down the entire time!!! hahahaha! Well, were super new, no one knew who the hell we were but it was def one for the books. W&W were actually scheduled to play there a couple weeks after, we were hanging out with them in Australia on the Stereosonic Tour back in like 2009 and telling them how shit it was going to be! LOL!

Dave: Best show ever was Tritonal at EDC Las Vegas, 2012. We played right before Armin Van Buuren to about 180,000 ppl!!

On 3rd September you will make your Thailand Debut at Levels. Have you ever visited Thailand before? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?

Chad: We've never played in Thailand and are SO EXCITED!!! Well, we're going to play a Tritonal set which means primarily tracks we've produced, remixed, mashed up or edited. We feel as it's our first time, we should really give them all we've got!
