Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Anderson Noise, shortly before his performance at Bed Supperclub on 8th June.

Your career coincides with the beginning of the Brazilian electronic dance music scene and you are considered as one of its pioneers. How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place?

In 1988, I discovered acid house. In my hometown, Bela Horzonte, there was one record store & the guy who worked there used to bring a lot of vinyl in from NYC. I used ti buy rock music from this guy, but then he started bringing acid house & that was how I found out about it. There was no internet back then!

How would you describe your music in just a few words?

TECHNO! Actually, sometimes I play house, depending on the club - but techno is my life!

Carl Cox described you as his "Future DJ Hero"... that must have been flattering to be called like that by one of the scene’s most influential figures. How did you guys meet?

For me it was a great pleasure that he said this. He was fantastically supportive of me & was great for my career 10 years ago. I met him in Brasil & we toured together.

You are celebrating your 25th career anniversary this year. You have been named “Best DJ” twice by DJ MAG Brazil and for 3 consecutive years you were present in the Top 100 DJs by DJ MAG UK. What were your personal career highlights so far?

My project with the national orchestra in Brasil - I collaborated with Joao Carlos Martins, who is the number one classical musician in Brasil.

So far you have released over 50 singles and EPs and several compilations. Out of all tracks you have made, which tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

Crooked Mouth (Anderson Noise 2011 mix)
Machines Must Die (Anderson Noise mix)
Radio Noise (I have a track called this, as well as my radio show)

What are you currently working on? What’s on your agenda for the near future?

Jacob Bro Trio & Anderson Noise - a collaborative project with a well known jazz band from Denmark. I'm working on this as well as the soundtrack to a comic book by a famous Brasilian artist called Martielo Toledo.

Just recently you broadcasted the 555th episode of your weekly radio show “Radio Noise”. What can you tell us about its concept and where can people listen to it?

It's my weekly radio show syndicated to 24 radio station around the world. In Thailand, you can listen on UB Radio. It features a guest mix every week as well as my favourite new tracks.

You will perform at the SENSATION in SÃO PAULO on 15th June – back2back with your fellow countryman Do Santos. Are you excited about it?

I'm very excited & enthusiastic - I will get to wear white clothes for the first time hahaha! I love playing at huge events in Brasil like this.

You travel a lot. What are the essential things you need to have with you at all times and what are the things you miss when you are on tour?

Of course my equipment - but also Berrocca & my phone, so that I can speak to my son all the time - this is who I miss the most!

What was the best and the worst gig you ever played?

Best (picture below) = Skolbeats in Sao Paulo in 2003. I closed the festival to 30,000 people which was incredible.
Worst = A party in Nova Lima in 1991 - people were asking me for Rolling Stones all night to the point they wanted to fight me!

What was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?

This wasn't during a performance - but a monkey stole my bananas yesterday in Indonesia!

In October 2008 you made your Bangkok debut at 808 Club, now you will return to Bangkok on 8th June to play at Bed Supperclub, where you also performed last year in April. Did you keep the gigs in good memory? Are you excited to return to Bangkok?

I loved it & would be happy to play every month haha! Bangkok is a fantastic city, I have good friends here. Very excited to come back!

Are you adventurous if it comes to food? Do you try the local dishes of the countries you travel to, or do you usually eat what you know from home? Will you give spicy Thai food a try?

I don't like spicy food! But I love the milder Thai food. Japanese is my favourite food & I eat it everywhere!

What can Bangkok expect of your performance at Bed Supperclub on 8th June?

I will play a mix of underground house & techno - it depends on the crowd. I never have a plan!
