Exclusive Interview with AGENT!
Agent! made a long way as club DJ, he is booked out every weekend and played almost every venue in Germany. That way he earned a lot of respect in the underground scene. Nowadays he is well-known for his extraordinary DJ skills, even the big names compliment him for his mixing, setup, special techniques and surprises. He played in clubs like the world famous Cocoonclub Frankfurt, Fabric London and Womb Tokyo. He is resident DJ at the oldest existing Techno club in Europe, the Airport in Würzburg already since 1999. With his close friend Sebbo he started the label Soulbox Records in 2009. One year later Agent! made his first Japan tour, he played at the legendary Fabric in London and got a residency in Ibiza at Whatizhouse!? In 2012 Agent! hits #3 in the Techhouse category of the Beatport charts and "Dopeman", his single on Cocoon Recordings smashed all charts and clubs worldwide.
Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with AGENT!, shortly before his performance at Glow Nightclub on 8th February.
You are a Tech House DJ/Producer from Berlin, Germany. How would you describe your own music in in a few words?
Pumpin – Groovy - Underground
In 2012 you track “Dopeman” was ranked #3 in the Tech House category of the Beatport charts. What other tracks would you recommend as an introduction for someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
You should check out “Work It” which was released on MoonHarbour, the label of Matthias Tanzmann, it was a massive hit in ibiza last summer
You are signed on Sven Vaeth’s record label Cocoon Recordings, how did you get involved with the label?
It was a lucky shot as I met Sven Väth on Ibiza while he was listening to Matthias Tanzmann playing my Dopeman Demo, so he liked the track too much! I was just lucky. After this release there was another track released on Cocoon, Raw Symphony, I ´m proud to be part of the Cocoon Records Roster
You are a Resident DJ at the oldest existing Techno club in Europe “Airport Würzburg”. What can you tell us about that club and the influence it had on your career?
Basically it was a very good training on the 1210s, I played there arround 6 times a month in the beginning and I met a lot of great djs there, some of them are my friends now, we had great parties there, its an institution!
What was the best and the worst gig you ever played so far and what was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?
One of the worst Gigs was an OpenAir where I played just one record before the police shut down the party, haha, and one of the best was definitely the Loveparade 2006 where I played in front of maybe 300.000 people.
What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife in your hometown Berlin? Do you have any nightlife related suggestions for first-time visitors?
Oh we have so many possibilities to go out, Berghain, Watergate, Tresor, Sisyphos (Top underground club!!!). In summer you also can go to mayn off-locations, open-airs (legal / illegal).. just check the social media for special events! you´ll find something for sure ! ;)
On 8th February you will perform live here in Bangkok at Glow Nightclub. Have you visited Thailand before? Will it be your Bangkok debut? What can Bangkok expect of your upcoming performance?
Yes, I am really looking forward to my debut and to play with Davide from Jeudi and Dan Buri who is a close friend of mine, this night will be superspecial, ill show you the Berlin Underground top tracks and some new productions of me too…
