Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Dyro, shortly before his performance at Together Festival 2015 on 9th May.

You are a 22 years old DJ & Producer from the Netherlands. You were tipped “Breakthrough Artist of 2012” by Hardwell, Laidback Luke & Dada Life, made the highest new entry in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list in 2013 and are now ranked on #27. Is it a gift or a curse to be so successful at such a young age? How do you manage to keep your feet on the ground?

Im lucky in the sense I have had such great support through out my career by a lot of artists that I really look up to and admire. It’s amazing really, and its definitely given me a great platform at such an early age to really get my music out there and in front of a big audience, something which I feel a lot of artists miss out on the opportunity to do. But I feel having this environment in which to grow as an artist has contributed to my grounding as well. All the guys you have mentioned are so successful and are still at the very top, they have achieved this through hard work and dedication and never resting on what they have achieved previously, you really couldn’t get better role models for a young artists coming through at the age I did and they have definitely helped shape my work ethic and drive that has taken me this far.

Hardwell stated that you are one of the most talented producers he has ever worked with. How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place and how did you get into DJing and music production?

Well I am Dutch, so am lucky in the sense that I have been exposed to electronic music from a young age. Its just part of our culture in much the same way Hip-hop is in the US. So we grow up listening to electronic music, it was in my mid teens that I began producing and really started taking in seriously a few years later and began sharing tracks on soundcloud.

You play and produce a mix of Electro- & Progressive House and you are known for driving bass lines, enchanting melodies and highly charged drops. How would you describe your own music in just a few words?

Unique, energetic, dark, creepy, high-energy electro. worked entire music career to create a sound of my own.

Your singles “Never Say Goodbye” (with Hardwell), “Radical” (with Dannic), “Go Down”, “Paradise” (with Tiësto), “Grid” (with Bassjackers) and “Leprechauns & Unicorns” have been highly successful. What other tracks or remixes would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

That was a body of work that I released early in my career and was still defining my sounds. To really get in tune with what I am about you should check out the releases on my new label WOLV. Its something I had wanted to do for some time and really take full control over ever aspect of what I am putting out.

Looking back over the past 2 years, you have played all over the world, including on the mainstages of Dance Valley, Electric Zoo, TomorrowWorld, Spring Awakening, Creamfields, EDC Las Vegas, Future Music Festival (Australia) and Ultra Music Festival (Miami). What were the best and the worst gigs you played and what was the funniest things that occurred during any of your performances?

I find it hard to define best and worst as there is such diversity between events across the globe its hard to identify just one which is amazing. Recently the US tour I did with Bassjackers was a lot of fun, we spent a few weeks on a tour bus together and playing almost every night, ending each show with a B2B session was awesome! Also last year Dannic and myself B2B set at EDC Las Vegas was a different level of energy, playing with one of your best friends in front of a crowd that side and an event of that magnitude was amazing.

What’s on your agenda for 2015 and what are you currently and focusing working on?

Well Miami music conference is about to kick off, its going to be super exciting this year as I will be hosting my own party Wolv by Dyro its something I have been planning for some time and really cant wait to see what the reception is. Looking further ahead, really my focus will be my label and touring. The festival season is almost upon us and with Ibiza also kicking off soon; it feels like it’s starting to heat up again!

On 9th May you will make your Thailand Debut as one of the headliners of Together Festival – alongside Steve Aoki, W&W, Vinai, Sander Van Doorn and DubVision. Have you visited Thailand before? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?

I never like to give too much away ahead of my sets, but they can aspect an array of new music and big hits, none stop energy and high octane thrills. I really cant wait to get over and play, I have heard a lot about the crowds in Thailand, so this is one I am counting down to!
