Barbara Tucker is one of the rare performers whose true gift is touching people in a most positive uplifting way. Barbara Tucker to House/Dance is what Stevie & Aretha is to soul. Beatles & Stones is to rock. Barbara has been a major part of the house community for over 20 years. Some call her the Queen or Mother of house, to sum it up Barbara Tucker is House. Besides being a singer/artist/performer recognized the world over, she is a Writer, Activist, Mentor, Stage Developer, Event/Club Promoter, Stylist, Label Owner, Artist Consultant, and Choreographer. Some of Barbara’s Number 1 Billboard Club Hits; “Beautiful People”, “I Get Lifted”, “Stay Together”, “Jazz It Up”, “Stop Playing with My Mind”, “Most Precious Love”, and “Love Vibration”. She is the only recording artist with a summer residency in IBIZA SPAIN that she has been doing for the past 11 years where she host a weekly party that’s banging and receives much International praises and recognition.

Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Barbara Tucker, shortly before her performance at the Grand Opening of Mode Sathorn Hotel on 20th December.

You are part of the house community for over 20 years; and many call you the Queen of House. How did you get in touch with house music in the first place?

I AM HOUSE MUSIC… LOL… I EAT AND BREATHE THIS… FOR YEARS I HAVE BEEN GOING TO CLUBS, AND PEOPLE KNEW ME AS A DANCER, I KNEW THE PLACES TO GO, LEADING ME TO BE A PROMOTING… ALWAYS SANG… ALWAYS NETWORKED AND 28 YEARS LATER AS A PROMOTER, WRITER, DANCER, CHOREOGRAPHER, PRODUCER ETC… I BECAME EMBEDDED IN THE COMMUNITY.

You have worked and recorded vocals for a impressive list of produces - amongst others David Guetta – and created #1 Billboard club hits such as “Beautiful People”, “I Get Lifted”, “Stay Together”, “Jazz It Up”, “Stop Playing with My Mind”, “Most Precious Love” and “Love Vibration”. Out of all tracks of yours, which would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

DEFININTELY “BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE”… IT CAPTURES THE FEELING OUR UNIVERSE LOVE FOR THE WORLD THROUGH MUSIC.

What are you currently working and focusing on and what’s on your agenda for the near future?

I HAVE FORMED A GROUP WITH MY DJ…DJ Q AND TOGETHER WE ARE CALLED BARB&Q, ALSO, I WROTE AND PRODUCED A HOUSE COMMUNITY TRACK CALLED “WE CAN HEAL”… 30 ARTIST, 16 REMIXERS ALL TO RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS FOR A WOMAN IN A HOMELESS SHELTER FOR WOMAN WITH MENTAL ILLNESS. ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO THE SHELTER THROUGH THE BROOKLYN COMMUNITY SERVICES… ALSO STILL RELEASING TRACKS THROUGH OUT THE WORLD…

Which were your personal career highlights, what was the best and the worst gig you ever played and what was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?

EVERY GIG IS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE NO GOOD NO BAD, JUST IS… LOL… HIGHLIGHTS ARE ALWAYS BEING ABLE TO AWAKE AND RISE AND SING FOR THE PEOPLE…

You don’t drink, smoke or take drugs and your music is at all times positive, uplifting and encouraging. Are you are role model by choice?

NO, I DID NOT PLAN IT… I CELEBRATE MY LIFE THROUGH LIFE… AND TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED… I AM NOT A ROCKET SCIENTIST… LOL… SO I AM HONORED AND HUMBLED TO BE ABLE TO DO WHAT I DO…

What are the essential things you need to have with you at all times and what are the things you miss when you are on tour?

ALWAYS MISS MY MOM… FEEL LIKE CRYING NOW… BUT I MUST ALWAYS HAVE GINGER TEA AND SWEET BLUEBERRIES… MY FAVORITE…

Your latest Bangkok visit was in 2008 when you performed with Aaron Ross at Q Bar. Did you keep you last visit in good memory?

DEFINITELY… AARON AND I HAD A BALL… THEY HAD EARRINGS THAT I STILL WEAR…
