WHVCK: Smirnoff Sound Collective's Emerging Movement

Have you ever felt like it has gotten to a point where a night out partying might start to become mundane? It used to be fun to go to the same club, meet the same friends, drink the same drinks, and listen to the same old songs week after week – but let us face it, your hard earned money might be better spent elsewhere if that were the case. When playing music has become a set routine that involves pressing play, the art form and creativity that comes with it fades. And when that happens, the life of the party and the fun gets lost within the sound waves.

If what we described is a feeling that you share, Smirnoff Sound Collective is aiming to change that. After successful launches in multiple cities around the world with support from multiple world famous DJs, the Smirnoff Sound Collective is beginning to pick up steam in Thailand – giving you a reason to #paihaisood once again.

The goal of the Smirnoff Sound Collective is to continue bridging the creativity gap and encourage the new generation to test their boundaries. To ensure that this happens, 15 top Thai DJs have been enlisted to spearhead the iconic event and take part in multiple event all over Thailand. Together with Smirnoff Midnight 100, these 15 local DJs will use the universal language of music to tell their story and bring you on a musical journey unlike your typical night out brings out.

All the DJs are ready to #paihaisood and challenge the status quo. The long list of noteworthy DJs from the roster of 15 includes multiple crews familiar with the party scene in Thailand. One of them being WHVCK, a crew that deserves a special mention. But to classify WHVCK as a crew would be an understatement, this collective of artists recruited by the Smirnoff Sound Collective could easily be classified as a movement instead and fittingly performs under the #paihaisood banner.

WHVCK as a movement started with the same question we at Siam2nite posed – “is going out and facing the same mundane experiences what we really love to do?” And because the answer was “no”, this collective of passionate gentlemen came together to redefine greatness and create a crew that churns out creative new sounds that they are ready to produce and share with the world.

The name WHVCK embodies the style of the crew. They literally want the music they produce to whack you in the face as they demonstrate their individual styles. Because their music is considered an open-format style, they have the creative freedom to #paihaisood with any genre that they choose to mix. Not defining themselves with one single genre enables their creativity to run wild in the way WHVCK chooses to present it. This can easily be heard in their released mixtape which they produced. Not only was this a creative outlet for us to hear, but WHVCK also showcased their songs through pictures, by merging and producing photography that reflects the sounds that they produce.

All the art they produce, was on display at their most recent party under the “Ultimate Unlock” theme which threw out any kind of mundane boundaries and really allowed them to confirm why doing something you truly love and enjoy will produce some of your best work. The variety of music that was on show for all the party people that joined the event allowed WHVCK to freely speak their mind. What defines the WHVCK movement is ultimately the passion they have to enjoy their music – and this is what they have unlocked to allow them to #paihaisood without having to look back.

So suit up and ready yourself to own the night. Be part of a greater movement that Smirnoff Midnight 100 presents Smirnoff Sound Collective. Follow the movement at Smirnoff Thailand’s Facebook page.
