7 Mother's Day Events to Celebrate with Your Mom
As Mother’s Day (August 12) nears, the idea of doing something sweet and memorable for one’s mom seems to gain more and more momentum. Some show their appreciation through gifts, while others turn to more ‘homemade’ gestures like preparing a wholesome breakfast.
During this joyful occasion, many people find it easier to overcome the awkwardness. After all, what would be a better excuse to tell your mom out loud how much you love her and give her a hug?
If that’s how things go, we’d call it a successful Mother’s Day! :)
But if you’ve got no plans for the weekend yet, shared activities with the family is a great way to bond and make happy memories. To help you decide, we at Siam2nite have selected 7 events happening this August 10-12 that sound like super-fun family time.
Free Dance Class for Your Mother
For this month, rumPUREE World Dance Studio invites dancers to bring their mothers and let them feel the rhythm. On every day until August 31, moms can join all classes free of charge, for any number of times.
The classes offered vary in styles; there’s everything from fitness dance, zumba, ballet, belly dance, street jazz, salsa, to dancehall and more.
If you have concerns regarding your mother’s health, the studio is happy to discuss the details and risks you should consider when choosing classes.
Students of rumPUREE can enjoy the deal right away. Even if you’ve got two left feet but still want to step onto the dance floor with your mom, you’re welcome to register just for the session or course. (Prices start from 400 THB / hr.)
Mother's Day Herbarium Workshop
Some might consider crafting something themselves to add a personalized touch. But instead of just presenting the finished product, why not gift your mom with a chance to make adorable trinkets together?
The Crafts Haus sells dried and preserved flowers as well as imported Japanese craft equipment. The shop is offering over 30 classes for Mother’s Day. Learn how to make dried flower bouquet in acrylic bottles, oil lamps, pens, makeup brushes, clocks, scented candles, glass domes, and more.
Each workshop typically lasts 1 - 3 hours and costs 650 - 2,850 THB per person. The event is taking place on August 10, with sessions available at 11.00 and 14.00.
This event will allow you to explore your creative skills and make a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Plus, perhaps best of all, you’ll get to spend time with your family while doing so. (Advanced booking recommended.)
Amazing Premium Crafts
We believe most moms love elaborate Thai craftworks, and apparently so does the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
This Mother's Day weekend, August 11-12, TAT is hosting Amazing Premium Crafts - a showcase and commercial event that features handmade items from the provinces of Thailand. Observe masterful local craftsmanship on earthenware, Benjarong ware, jewelry, tie-dyed fabrics, leathercraft, home decor, and more.
There’ll also be workshops to enjoy with your family and create original craftworks such as flower rings, Lanna lacquerware, and paper flowers.
Get mouth-watering treats from famous restaurants from all regions. The carefully curated list include R-Haan, Ongtong Khaosoi, Ruen Mallika, Nasi Jumpru, Thong Ek Khanom Jeen Namya Puu, Baanboonpetch, and many more.
As for the entertainment, you can admire cultural heritage in forms of Nang Yai and Thai puppet shows. Alternatively, groove to live music by Two Popetorn, Tor Saksit, Nont Tanont, and Season Five; these artists are bringing exciting acts to all mothers and families at Amazing Premium Crafts.
Bossa Jazz Sunday - Mother's Week
For this Mother’s Day, you should invite your mother and the family to lunch at Top Knot - a bar and restaurant located at Hotel Once. The venue has a relaxing ambiance and a panoramic view of Charoenkrung neighborhood that stretches as far as you can see.
Top Knot is hosting exclusive luncheons with delightful food & drinks and soothing sounds of bossa nova and jazz this August 11-12.
On top of that, on August 12 (Mon), you’ll get to enjoy a performance by Kuljira Thongkong from The Voice Season 3, supported by Bumblebee Trio Band. Together, they’ll be bringing the beachside vibes to you for two hours between 13.00 - 15.00; admission is free. (Advanced booking recommended.)
Lily Festival : A Celebration of Modern Motherhood
Lily Festival is a lifestyle gathering for mothers of all ages with 5 categories of family-friendly activities to enjoy.
Wellness covers yoga and pilates classes as well as ‘Aqua Natal Class’ for soon-to-be mothers. Meanwhile, Talks invites you to discussions on gender equality, alternative education, postnatal exercises, tips on raising kids, and more.

The Market is where you can find exclusive food and drinks - items you might not find anywhere else - as well as maternity products. Lastly, Art features live painting under the theme of ‘modern motherhood’.
Invite the whole family, not necessarily just your mom, to the event free of charge. (Advanced booking recommended.) Be sure to treat your loved ones to some terrific time this August 11.
Treat Your Super-Mom to a Dinner & Show at Benihana
Add a dramatic flair to your dinner and take your mother and the family to Benihana, a Japanese restaurant at Avani Atrium Bangkok renowned for its ‘Teppanyaki Show’.
Marvel at the chefs while they prepare and season your food right at the table with jaw-dropping tricks. (Like tossing an egg with a spatula!) You’re welcome to interact with them and participate during the meal.
On the teppanyaki menu are scallops, tiger prawns, beef, lamb, and other premium ingredients (starting from 1,450++ THB); a la carte options are also available. All sets come with soup, salad, and rice.
For Mother’s Day on August 12, all moms get a free set of teppanyaki when dining with a group of three or more between 12.00 - 14.30 and 17.00 - 22.30. (Advanced booking recommended.)
Ride for Mom!
Why not show your love for your mother (and her wellbeing) by taking her to an exercise session? Absolute You Studio from Thonglor’s community mall, The Commons, is hosting an activity for Mother’s Day. All moms can join this cycling class free of charge.
Don’t worry if your mother is a newbie at cycling; trainers are more than happy to provide information and advice on the right way to work out. You and your mom can enjoy lively rhythms and good health together this August 12 between 13.00 - 14.00. (Advanced booking recommended.)
