Exclusive Interview with Marco Loco

Glasgow-born/Ibiza-influenced Marco Loco has been involved in the dance industry for over a decade. Over the last 8 years, he has solidified himself as a true Ibiza resident. Playing over 100 gigs every summer in a variety of the island's coolest hotspots. He has held a residency at his beloved club Space Ibiza for the last 5 years, showcasing all his different styles across the superclub´s varied arenas.

Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Marco Loco, shortly before his performance at Bash Bangkok (Upscale Late Nightclub) on Thursday 21st March.

You were born in Glasgow (UK) but are a resident DJ at the famous ‘Space Ibiza’ club for 6 years already. What brought you to Ibiza in the first place and what made you stay?

Ibiza is the dance music capital of the world and like 1000s of other Djs I went over there to see what I could do! I got some great residencies in my first season and things keep getting better every year.

What - artists and music genres - are your biggest influences?

I like lots of genres from chillout/downtempo to full on house and techno. Main influences have been Carl Cox, Yousef, Jay Lumen, Jon Sa Trinxa, Nightmares on Wax, Greg Wilson, Michael Jackson, The Beatles…

How would you describe your own music?

Unique and full of passion!

This year you released 4 new tracks already. What can you tell us about your latest tracks and where can people listen to them?

You can check them out on beatport: www.beatport.com/artist/marco-loco/195409
My new tracks have been recently signed are scheduled for release this summer… There will be 8 new releases in total. Ranging from Funk to Chilled house to peaktime floorfillers ;)

Out of all tracks you have made, which tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

Hijack, No Requests and The Music n’ You.

What are you currently working on?

A few more ‘big room’ tracks that im finishing off this week in Ibiza hopefully!

What was the best and the worst gig you ever played?

Difficult to choose just 1! My 2 best would be Space opening party last year and the closing party of my boat party Shipwrekced in 2006 always springs to mind too! Worst gig? Id rather not say incase the promoter reads this interview!

Besides Ibiza you hold winter residences all over the world including in Thailand at the Full Moon Parties, in the last two months you played several gigs alongside artists such as Nakadia, Jadele, Darragh Casey and many more. How was this winter season in Thailand so far?

Absolutely awesome! I love Thailand, its turning into a second home for me.

Are you adventurous if it comes to food? Do you try the local dishes of the countries you travel to? Do you enjoy Thai food?

Im more adventurous that I was a few years ago. I enjoy the thai food from green curries to gha pow guy! Pizza is still my number 1 love though!

You will perform live in Bangkok on 21st March at Bash. Will it be your Bangkok debut or have you played in Bangkok before?

Its my Bangkok debut, Im really excited about it!

What can Bangkok expect from your performance at Bash on Thursday 21st March?

The best underground house and techno i've picked up in the last year or so mixes in with some of my new productions that are coming out this summer.
