Exclusive Interview with Paris Blohm
EPIC Entertainment presents Paris Blohm at Live RCA Bangkok. Paris has taken the dance music world by storm! The hit single "COLORS" in collaboration with Tritonal and Sterling Fox which was released on Nicky Romero's Protocol Recordings topped the Beatport charts for several weeks and made Paris a household name in the dance scene!
Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Paris Blohm, shortly before his performance at Live RCA Bangkok on May 16.
You were delivering rotisserie chicken and pizza for a living and made music besides that whenever you could. DJ & Producer Daniel Linton of “LA Riots” heard your music and introduced you to your current manager at Interscope records. As of today you have released tracks on prestigious record labels such as Revealed, Protocol, Ultra, Spinnin’ & Enhanced and enjoy the support of Tiesto, Hardwell, Sander Van Doorn and many more! You play and produce Trance-infused Progressive- and Electro House. How would you describe your own music in just a few words?
I would have to say my music is emotional, energetic, and melodic. I've been into melodies for as long as I could hum!
You are only 24 years old and enjoy a remarkable success already. Is it a gift or a curse to be so successful at such a young age? How do you manage to keep your feet on the ground?
When comparing myself to some of these other super star djs, some are quiete younger. But, I would definitely say it's a gift to experience what I'm experiencing at such a great age, I am just striving to make it last forever. :)
Your tracks “Colors” (with Tritonal) and “Left Behinds” both hit the #1 of Beatport. What other tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
Great question, it's easy for people to say left behinds, or colors, when thinking of my music. But I love some of the remix work I've done as well. I'd say my strangers remix, or klangkarussel remix are some that aren't as popular, but are just as big on the dance floor.
What’s on your agenda for 2015 and what are you currently and focusing working on?
I'm currently working and experimenting with newer ideas and sounds. Something that pushes me past what I've been known for making, while retaining my signature sound.
Looking back on the past extremely eventful and equally successful years, what were the best and the worst gigs you played and what were the funniest things that occurred during of your performances?
I one time played for like 5 people because I was not very known, and there was a massive snow storm. I won't say where, but I'll never forget how humbling that was. Best set.... Too many :)
What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife in your hometown Los Angeles? Do you have any nightlife-related suggestions for first-time visitors?
It's funny that I don't really play in my home town much. I had a fake id when I was 16 so I went out every weekend. When I actually turned 21 I was burnt out. I'd say any of the big clubs in LA do the scene justice.
You made your Bangkok Debut in 2014 at Levels with over 1000 attendees. Did you keep your Bangkok performances – and Thailand in general – in good memory? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance on 16th May at LIVE RCA?
I LOVE BANGKOK. oops, too loud. Such a great city with raw energy. I've spent more time there than in any city in Asia. I'm looking forward to playing again :) The crowd can expect some new music :)
