[Recap] Guns N Roses Live in Bangkok

[Recap] Guns N Roses Live in Bangkok

When legends perform people take notice - even if the last time they released an album was almost 10 years ago. On Tuesday, 28 February, 2017 SCG Stadium in Muang Thong Thani was packed to the roof with rock music enthusiasts ready to witness the stadium being converted into a full scale concert venue that played host to the greatness of a Guns n' Roses performance.

Guns n' Roses are the definition of rockstars. The American rock band has sold over 100 million records worldwide and continue to be relevant in a time when artists come and go faster than you can blink. Having first formed in 1985, the original 5-person band has since evolved into a 7-person band with only 3 of their original members remaining - frontman Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, and bassist Duff McKagan - all of which are still going strong. The additional 4 new members include keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese, guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer.

Regardless of the changes, Guns n' Roses has ensured that their status as rock gods remains intact since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album "Appetite For Destruction" in 1987. When it was released the album reached number 1 on The Billboard charts and produced classics such as "Sweet Child o' Mine" - a song that should ring a bell even with Millennials. It was that song which has endured the test of time that propelled Axl Rose and crew into worldwide stardom.

The "Not In This Lifetime" Tour was Guns n' Roses first tour since 2014. The Thailand leg was the bands last show in Asia before they head back West. Rockers of all ages in Thailand definitely showed their appreciation in full force when the music came on and deservedly so because what a show it was!

The crowd got to witness an extended playlist of over 27 hits and classics from the bands 6 studio albums as well as many original covers of other famous songs. It was surely a night to remember for many who for the first time got to witness their rock idols in the flesh.

For those of you who did not get to go fret not, because lucky for you Siam2nite made sure we brought back with us from the event some awesome photos that will forever engrave this night into our memories to share. Rock on!
