The night of October 7th, 2017 checked off one of Bangkok’s most unique and original DJ contest of the year at CÉ LA VI. The Red Bull 3Style Thailand Finals 2017 left all turntable enthusiasts at the party impressed and gave the first-timers a newfound respect for the masters of the craft. The stage couldn’t have been set any better. The halls were filled with energy and excitement of the guests, staffs, and fans of the contestants.

Everyone dressed in their best style for the occasion and let loose to the cool beats as they drink the night away. The dimly-lit club had been transformed into everything Red Bull, from the lighting, backdrop, photo booth, bars, and most importantly the DJ stage donning the words #PLAYWITHMUSIC. And boy, did they play that music well.

The DJs that were chosen to put on a show brought their best to the crowd on the night, and they were not disappointed. Those who were sitting got up on their feet; those who were in front couldn’t help but bump along with the beats that flew through the speakers. Each DJ made the best of their time and showed the crowd what they were made of in style, working away the magic on the turntables to deliver their masterpiece to the hearts of every soul in the venue. It was a competition of passion that left every witness with a smile on their face and the need for more.

While the results were being tabulated, the judges came down from their seats to treat the audience with some of their prowess. And as the announcement went underway to the champion of the year, the crowd one chanted one name that echoed all through the halls of CÉ LA VI. It was the name the MC had in hand. It was the one and only DJ Whatdatfrog.

Let’s take some time to learn more about this year’s champion, Vasutee Plianchao (Gob) aka DJ Whatdatfrog. It was back in 2002 when he fell in love with the sound of the turntable at a high school event. Inspired while watching the great DJ Spydamonkee setting the stage on fire, he took off into the world of DJing and never looked back. He learned all he could from his mentors, spent all his time in practice sessions and invested all his money on the equipment, resulting in him being one of the best turntablists Thailand has to offer.

Dj Whatdatfrog might not be to name on the lips of the regular crowd, but in the realms of DJing his name gets the people going. He is the team member of ThaBeatlounge that came in 4th place at the DMC Team World Online Final in 2015 and also founder of Paranormal Djs crew that was crowned DMC Team Thailand Champions of 2009 – 2010. But most importantly he was the runners-up of Redbull 3Style Thailand in 2016 and this year he came back to claim the trophy for himself. For those of you who missed out on his winning set, here it is:

This 15-minute awe-inspiring masterpiece is the result of DJ Whatdatfrog’s personality, persistence, and pride. He loves to put style into old-school Hip-hop, Funk, R&B, and even Rock, bringing together the newer generation and older sounds. Reading the crowd is his game, and he always delivers when put behind those turntables on the stage.

Big congratulations to DJ Whatdatfrog on his well deserved victory, and we are sure he will do all of Thailand’s DJing community proud when representing the country at the Red Bull 3Styles World Finals in Poland!
