Hip-Hop Club "Susie Q" Makes a Mark on Khaosan Road with the "Susie Walking Street Art"
Susie Q adds a new look and transforms “Susie Alley” into the brand-new graffiti landmark, "Susie Walking Street Art".
As one of Bangkok’s most popular nightlife areas, Khaosan Road is filled with countless clubs, pubs, and bars where everyone can drop by and find a good time with their friends. No matter what kind of party you’re looking for, just have a walk down the street and you’ll almost always find a spot for another memorable night out.
Hidden in a small alleyway that connects Khaosan Road to Rambuttri Road that locals often refer to as the Susie Alley or “Susie Walking Street”, however, is a nightclub that had set itself aside from all the touristy vibe it sits between. We’re talking about Susie Q, a modern Hip-Hop club that offers a party experience unique to Khaosan Road’s usual carefree vibe. Aside from all a great selection of drinks, quality music, and all the Hip-Hop culture you can absorb, the overall red color tone of the club will light a fire of your party spirit and keep you pumping and jumping all night long.
Those of you who love to party in Khaosan, especially if you’re now in your 30s, should ring a bell upon hearing the name “Susie”. We’re talking about the “Susie Pub” that had been in this location for over 20 years before giving way to 999 West Bar’s brief stint, which had now become the Susie Q we see today. The club had just recently celebrated its 1st anniversary of being the face of Hip-Hop culture and one of the top Hip-Hop party clubs in Khaosan.
After its 1st anniversary, Susie Q went through a series of renovations that added a semi-outdoor seating zone for those who want to enjoy a slower night with a glass of ice-cold beer and a plate of snacks but also wants a get a good amount of the Hip-Hop energy from inside as well.
Keeping up with its mission to promote Hip-Hop culture in Khaosan, Susie Q hosted a “Graffiti Competition 2019” on November 2, 2019, that transformed its usual alley into a brand-new landmark of Khaosan called “Susie Walking Street Art”. The visual creativity that fills the entire alley from front to back resonates with Susie Q's concept of creating a unique Hip-Hop community in the area. As the artworks are sprayed onto the roll-up doors of the shops in the alley, you'll have to drop by when all the shops are closed after 10.30 pm for those Instagram snaps.
After all the renovations, however, Susie Q still maintains its unique contrast between modern music genre and vintage decorations. Aside from the classic bare brick walls, wooden doors, dark-colored wooden furniture, you’ll find the decorative vintage posters and black & white portraits of famous superheroes, artists, actors, models, and designers. Illuminating all that with some distinct red lights gives off a cool secret bar vibe to the atmosphere.
The spacious interior is designed to fit up to 400 people every night and is segmented into different zones including a bar counter, standing tables, and VIP seating area. Right above the DJ booth, you’ll get a clear view of the renowned giant disco ball that brings back classic party vibes from the 60s.
Rap fans can expect a night treatment of prime Hip-Hop tunes from the Bangkok Invaders crew with a setlist that'll encompass the old-school 90's Hip-Hop vibes up to all the fresh mainstream chart-toppers of today that'll keep you dancing non-stop through the night.
Furthermore, Susie Q serves up a monthly dose of special events featuring some of Thailand’s biggest Hip-Hop stars with names like Twopee, Youngohm, Young Bong, Maiyarap, Fixed, and Fuckling Hero lighting up the parties in the past. Be sure to keep up with Susie Q’s latest announcements as they’ll continue to host more events and artists in the upcoming days!
Feeling thirsty? Looking for a late-night snack? Susie Q’s got your back with over 100 drinks including selections of beer, gin, vodka, whiskey, brandy, tequila, rum, and a variety of cocktails, shots, juices, and soft drinks. Food is also on the menu complete with all sorts of appetizers and main dishes, so you can even choose to have a pre-party dinner right inside the club!
If you’re looking for something fresh and new aside from all the same old touristy Khaosan road, then just hop on over to Susie Q! Now with all cool graffiti art along the “Susie Walking Street” added to the already unrivaled party vibe and elite Hip-Hop sounds, be sure to level up those stories on your Facebook and Instagram and you might’ve just found your crew a new weekly hangout spot!
