Abovestone Goes Above & Beyond with Exclusive Bar Service

If you love to go out and take in the sights of nighttime Bangkok, then you’re probably well aware that there aren’t many rooftop bars in Ekkamai. It’s surprisingly hard to find a spot to sip a few drinks while enjoying a nice breeze and a view from the rooftops.
And that’s how Abovestone got started. The partners want the place to be a hangout that looks and feels exclusive in terms of food & drinks, setting, and service – just like walking into one of Thailand’s top five-star hotels.
Abovestone sits on the 3rd & 4th floors of Bliss Ekkamai, a building located between Soi Ekkamai 12-14. (You can reach the venue by taking a trip up a glass elevator.) Once inside, you’ll find the place decorated mainly in classy copper tones and, as its name suggested, lavish stone slabs.
This interior design choice is inspired by the partner’s travels to Japan and Europe. From those experiences, the team incorporates ambiance and settings they love into Abovestone’s décor.
On the 3rd floor is an indoor lounge – elegant and stylish with the combination of wood, leather, and stone. Despite its luxurious appearance, the place still feels like a cozy living room, with a small bar area in the corner to boot.
The 4th floor is divided into three zones. First is the open-air seating area that offers a view of Sukhumvit 63 Road and the surrounding hotels and condominiums.
Before you can reach the stageside area on the other side, you’ll have to go through a small indoor zone. And what it lacks in space, it makes up for in presentation; the ceiling is dotted with blue LED lights, giving it an appearance of a starry night sky.
Abovestone books a daily rotation of bands strumming out Thai & international folk, acoustic, and easy listening tracks. You can catch live music every day between 20.00 - 21.30 and 22.00 - 23.30. After that, leave it up to the DJs to keep the party going with hip-hop and R&B sets.
On one side of the stage are the stairs to the rooftop deck. Set as a rooftop garden, this little loft offers much more privacy than other areas in the venue.
As we mentioned, Abovestone aims to be a rooftop bar that feels more like a five-star hotel establishment. As such, the venue focuses on the first-class service, which includes entertaining its patrons as well as maintaining cleanliness and security.
Abovestone also takes immense care in curating its menus, with chefs bringing in Thai & Western dishes typically served at upscale hotels to this Ekkamai bar.
First on the recommendation list is Seared Salmon with Creamy Oyster Sauce and Berry (450 THB) – pan-seared salmon steak in truffle-infused oyster cream sauce. Incredibly aromatic and savory.
Fried Chicken Wings (160 THB / 6 wings) – classic crispy chicken wings served with its perfect companion: spicy jaew dipping sauce.
Black Pasta Seafood (239 THB) – black ink spaghetti in Abovestone’s signature seafood sauce.
Deep-Fried Sour Chicken Tendons (160 THB) – neam-style chicken joint & tendons deep-fried until golden and crispy, served with sweet chili sauce.
As for the drinks, Abovestone offers options of white wines, red wines, champagnes, liquors, beers, classic cocktails, and mocktails. The real highlight, though, is the 14 signature cocktails – all original concoctions.
And we had the delightful chance to sample a few of them.
Dessert Cocktail (330 THB) – made with chocolate and melon liqueur, it’s served with brownies in a cocktail glass rimmed with plum powder. Fruity but not overly sweet, it’s a drink you can easily enjoy one after the other.
Marry Me (330 THB) – a gorgeous cocktail made with coconut rum and lychee liqueur. This sweet & sour drink is topped with whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and fresh strawberries.
Abovestone (330 THB) – a bright red concoction made with vodka, absinthe, and strawberry liqueur. Strong yet very palatable, the drink is served with fresh blueberries, oranges slices, and strawberries on the side.
