Together Festival 2017: 2 Days of Epic Togetherness

As one of the longest running festivals in Thailand, this year marks the 6th anniversary of Together Festival. Having been media partners since the event’s inception in 2012, Siam2nite has seen the exponential growth of Together Festival together with all the fans of the event.

With each iteration, not only has the event grown in popularity, but it has grown in magnitude – whether it be in crowd sizes, production value, or DJ presence it seemed to get more epic by the year. The evolution of Together Festival has shifted not only the festival itself into new heights, it would not be an exaggeration to say that it also set the foundation for other festivals to come in and flourish in the scene here in Thailand.

With so much experience under their belt, the organizers of Together Festival is back once again this year between Friday April 28th and Saturday April 29th at BITEC Convention Center and are ready to throw an event even bigger than the last. Just like every other time, be prepared to get showered with the much-anticipated sense of peace, love, unity, and respect which is ever so common at the event.

In preparation for such a spectacle, in which epic lights, sound, and entertainment is guaranteed we want to take a quick trip down memory lane to see how Together Festival has evolved over the time.

2012 – WHAT? We’re sexy and we know it! OKAY!

It was the inauguration event and it was also the event that left revelers asking for more! In 2012, electronic dance music was not yet where it is today in Thailand. So instead of your typical all-DJ line-up, Together Festival started off as a concert which featured the likes of local crews like Thaitanium, Bangkok Invaders, Southside, and even Tata Young. These local legends performed alongside hip-hop legend Lil’ Jon, superstar DJ Afrojack, and the hottest party rock crew of that moment in time LMFAO.

The event proved to be a hit as it literally brought together different music styles and managed to intertwine them in such a way that led to perfect harmony. What was initially a new concept became the standard and gave rise to the festival movement in Thailand.

2013 – Uncle Snoooooooooooooop and Justice

Not to be outdone by the opening year, team Together Festival teased those waiting in anticipation for their second iteration with image after image of what was to be hints for Justice’s DJ Set. It worked wonders because the electronic dance music momentum was beginning its full swing and people poured into the event as if it was free.

To top off the roster of performances, Thaitanium, Bangkok Invaders, and Southside were once again sanctioned to perform alongside DJs like Quintino, AN21 & Max Vangeli. Uncle Snoop Doggy Dogg wrapped up the headliners and proved why the hip-hop godfather himself was still a force to be reckoned with regardless of who he performed alongside of. The event once again brought people of all walks together, from EDM fans to hip-hop heads and ensured that the magic of coming together at Together Festival was still alive and well.

2014 – Bangkok Dangerous

After 2 successful Together Festival events, Thailand witnessed a clear shift in overall musical trend. This led Together Festival 2014 to be the first event in the Together series in which an all-DJ line-up was announced. But as the EDM wave was in full swing, so was the domestic political wave – which was slowly heating up in the streets of Bangkok.

As people were prepared to welcome back Afrojack as the headliner along with MakJ, DJ Blend, Apster, and D-Wayne, protests on the streets of Bangkok broke out. This caused Afrojack to pull out of the event last minute leaving everyone in disarray, but not to leave fans disappointed the Together Festival team came together and offered everyone complimentary drinks to make up for the mishap. As it turned out, this was how Bangkok got to witness the awesomeness of DJ Blend and MakJ in full. Without the original headliner, these two DJs shone extra bright and saved the night for everyone in epic fashion!

2015 – United We Get Caked!

Over the years, we have come to know and love that the Together Festival team are accustomed to teasing us with announcements and 2015 was no different. After blocking off May 9th as the day of the event, not to be outdone by…themselves, Together Festival added an extra party day on May 8th. For the price, similar to that of any other 1-day festival, the party people of Bangkok were going to get 2 days of non-stop dancing at Together Festival 2015.

If that was not enough good news, the organizers went ahead and announced that the extra date would be for the long sought after Hardwell and his United We Are tour. Happiness was an understatement for many at the time because in addition to Hardwell, superstar DJs like Steve Aoki, W&W, Sander van Doorn, Dyro, Vinai, and DubVision rounded up what was to be an epic 2-day event that got some people hooked onto the EDM movement.

2016 – Latching onto More Cake

The trend that started to emerge soon after 2015 was that Together Festival prided themselves on doing new and unique things by bringing the most sought after DJs to Bangkok every year. The combination of DJs that have never appeared in Bangkok with the tried and tested DJs who the Thai market adores was a recipe that worked. For the 2016 iteration, Disclosure DJ Set was brought in to woo the crowds and once again it worked like a charm. In combination with welcoming back the cake throwing antics of Steve Aoki, Andrew Rayel, Firebeatz, Galantis, Nervo, and Tchami, 2016 was definitely a year to remember for all the beautiful smiles that Together Festival brought to everyone’s face once again.
