DJ Run Festival Thailand: On Your Mark, Get Set, Rave!

DJ Run Festival Thailand: On Your Mark, Get Set, Rave!

One thing that tends to pop up on a lot of people’s bucket list is to run and finish a marathon at one point in their lives. But let us be real, marathons require training for – and with our schedules being so packed all the time in this day and age with MORE fun things that require absolutely NO training for, like going out and having fun with our friends – who has the time to tick a marathon off their list?

If only there was a way to participate in a marathon where we have already trained for naturally and is fun at the same time. Pause right there…because there IS!

Thailand is en route to welcoming a very unique marathon-style festival called the DJ Run on June 3rd, 2017 to be held at Makkasan Station. The idea is that this is a running event where you do not have to train for because if you are someone who already likes to dance and party, you should have more than enough energy to complete in this very entertaining 5-stage run. The combination of exercise and partying is a match made in heaven and is proof that fun and innovation can coexist.

The expansion into Thailand is part of the organizers Hemus Pacific and Conceptual Events Worldwide Co., Ltd. Thailand expansion plan which also includes other countries including Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, as well as Singapore. The DJ Run, as the name suggests, will see participants run through a 5km race course whereby at every 1km mark a DJ will be waiting on stage to make sure your run is the least tiring part of the marathon. Who would have thought that dancing would take up more energy than running?

Either way, as we mentioned earlier, training may not be needed for such an event but just like any other festival you may have been to, some preparation is definitely wise to make sure you are a winning trend setter. Here are some tips for you to ensure you finish the race and reach the final party stage in style!

Dress Up to Get Down!

You will certainly be the black sheep of the DJ Run family if you show up in sport shorts and a tight fitting running sport top. That is what you wear to a normal (aka. boring) marathon! The DJ Run encourages all participants to come fully dressed to impress. Have a princess costume? Rock it with pride. Fancy a banana onesie? Bring it on. Always dreamed about being a dragon-slash-chef-slash-pony? Well, if you can imagine it you are encouraged to BE it! Nothing is off-limits here so let your creativity run wild! Come one, come all – the DJ Run is an inclusive event that celebrates weirdness and differences among all. Love is love.

Prepare Your Best Dance Shoes

Just like any other marathon, it is recommended that you bring your most comfortable shoes to the event. No, not because you will need it for the run – that is only a small part of it, but mainly because it is very important you have your best dancing shoes on to make sure you can boogie at all 5 stages. With DJ CashYo and DJ Susoh Noklex already announced to be making appearances, surely you will be doing a lot of dancing between a little bit of running.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

The Bangkok heat is not to be underestimated. Anyone who has been in the City of Angels for a while will know full well that just walking around in the city will cause you to break a sweat. Now, if you are going to be running and dancing in full costume, make sure you hydrate well! Staying hydrated will also mean that when you arrive at the after-party dance at the end, you will have the energy to sweat some more. Time to break a sweat and get those endorphins flowing at the same time.

Bring A Large Crew

Normally you would want to bring a large crew to any festival anyway so that you can fully represent your team. Not only will you get to enjoy the day dancing like there is no tomorrow and running (and most probably walking) like you were on the catwalk with some of your besties, but you can also look out for one another when you are too tired. A friend in need, is a friend indeed. But we have another reason for you as well. The DJ Run 2017 tickets on sale are currently THB 1,136 per person. However, if you manage to find a team of 5 people and you buy the group package, you get to buy the first 4 tickets for 20% off and get a 5th one for free! That equates to about THB 3,636 in total for 5 tickets or about THB 730 per person! There has never been a better time to bring your friends to an event than this time right here.

Now that you are all prepared, you can look forward to picking up your race kit on June 3rd, 2017 at Airport Link Makkasan Station, which includes a special glow-in-the-dark race t-shirt, a very unique glow-in-the-dark finisher’s medal, an LED foam stick, and a drawstring bag at the event. Tickets are available at ThaiTicketMajor, so quickly get yours before they run out!
