VIBE Coffee & Plant-based Food Offers a Healthier Choice

How awesome would a brand-new vegetarian/vegan place in Bangkok be? With it bringing all kinds of tasty & healthy plant-based meals to the table, we’d say very!

VIBE Coffee & Plant-based Food Offers a Healthier Choice

According to Chef’s Pencil, one of the most prominent websites on all things cuisine, Google analytics in 2020 reveal that vegetarianism and veganism are more popular than ever.

In fact, these trends have already broken records from 2019. Compared to five years ago, the numbers are even doubled, and they show no signs of slowing down.

The report reflects the changes in our lifestyles. As people become more and more conscious about their health, they turn to vegetarian and vegan food.

It’s important to remember that the rise of non-meat alternatives isn’t just a global trend, but a Thai one as well. In the past couple of years, Thailand has seen a huge flood of new vegetarian & vegan restaurants. It’s now much easier to find a place to dine if you don’t eat meat.

(The difference between vegetarian and vegan is quite simple. Vegans give up meat and all animal products, while most vegetarians will supplement veggies with dairy products as well as eggs.)

However, since Thailand’s vegan market is still taking its first steps, there’s still relatively few options for vegan eateries. Some places might offer a few veg-items on the menu, but nowhere near as many as their regular ones.

How awesome would it be if Bangkokians can enjoy plant-based meals with a wide variety of healthy options?

Front of the venue

VIBE Coffee & Plant-based Food is located on Soi Sukhumvit 36, a mere two-minute walk from BTS Thonglor. It’s founded on the owner’s wish to promote the health of their family and others with fresh, nutritious food that also tastes amazing.

And that’s how VIBE began. With experienced chefs from famous hotels and restaurants teaming up to create its menu, the place now caters to young adults who want to eat better. This café/restaurant serves food & drinks that are actually good for you, prepared with high-quality ingredients sourced both locally and from outside Thailand.

Just step into VIBE Coffee & Plant-based Food, and you’ll be greeted by an intense aroma of roasted Arabica beans. Talk about a coffee lover’s paradise!

The venue features floor-to-ceiling window panes. It feels open, almost like an outdoor bistro. Behind the counter bar is where you’ll find the menu board. You can order either at the counter or at your table; the staff are always happy to help.

Here are some of the recommendations we’ve tried and think you shouldn’t miss!

First up is the ubiquitous Thai street snack, Moo Ping (149 THB), a.k.a pork skewers. Only, this version is made with soy protein. The skewers are served with hot & spicy jaew dip and quinoa sticky rice.

The Som Tam Set (149 THB) looks super yummy as well with vegan grilled ‘chicken’, vegan crackling, and quinoa sticky rice .

Also made with soy protein, the Vegan Satay Skewers (149 THB) are perfectly grilled to give them some smoky goodness. They come with VIBE’s signature satay sauce .

On the international side, the first thing you might want to try is the iconic Korean Bibimbap (220 THB). It’s packed with top-shelf, nutritious ingredients like More Meat, a Thai plant-based ‘pork’ product, and others such as tofu, fresh shiitake mushrooms, and carrots. Everything is neatly arranged and topped with VIBE’s homemade gochujang.

For Western-style dishes, we’ll start with a fast food classic; VIBE’s Homemade BBQ Burger (219 THB) comes with fries, ketchup, and vegan mayo.

But if you’re a pasta lover, then you need to try Pesto Pasta with Grilled Veggies (169 THB). The al dente pasta is tossed in rich pesto sauce, along with some grilled eggplants, zucchinis, and sun-dried tomatoes for some extra texture and substance.

Another pasta dish that we absolutely love is the Spaghetti and Meatballs in Tomato Sauce (220 THB), starring More Meat meatballs. Vegan or not, we can guarantee that you’ll find this one incredibly delicious. Plus, with the chefs using More Meat meatballs, you won’t be able to tell that it’s not actually pork

But that’s hardly all that VIBE offers. The snacks and desserts menu are just as mouthwatering! If you’re looking for a quick bite, there are steamed baos to go with your coffee or tea. And for something sweet after a proper meal, we’re sure you’ll love the crepes and vegan ice creams.

A fan of matcha? You’ll be excited to know that VIBE imports its matcha powder from Kagoshima, Japan, known for its velvety mouthfeel.
