Exclusive Interview with Pan-Pot

Exclusive Interview with Pan-Pot

Elektro Delikatessen brings the German Techno DJ & Producer duo Pan-Pot at WAX. They are currently on a tour on the occasion of the release of the Watergate Records Compilation 17. They have played major festivals such as Tomorrowland - their performance at WAX will be a chance to catch them in an intimate club environment. Pan-Pot will be supported by Dan Cole & Ikono. Expect the best of cutting-edge Techno straight from Berlin.

Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Pan Pot, shortly before his performance at WAX on 22nd November.

You met while studying audio engineering at the SAE Institute in Berlin and after finding out that you shared a similar taste in music you started working together in the studio. As of today you are looking back on almost a decade together and Pan-Pot has become one of the most influential Tech-House and Techno acts of Germany and beyond. What recent tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?

Tassilo: That’s bit of a hard question as we try to keep a variety to our productions but I think our latest release on Second State shows that well, it’s the Grey Matter EP. Also check out our latest compilation we did for Watergate, our resident club in berlin. It shows the kind of music we dj.

ThomasThomas: White Fiction and Apocalyptic Horsemen

You are currently touring Asia on the occasion of your latest release, the “Watergate 17” compilation. What can you tell us about the album and what is next on your agenda for the near future?

Thomas: Every year Watergate asks an artist to make this compilation for them and this year it was our turn. We already thought about that for a while because we are quite close with them anyways, we do most of our events at their club. It’s a great and respected compilation so when they asked us it was clear that we wanted to do it.

Tassilo: And we are very happy with the result and the great artists that joined us for this compilation with exclusive tracks from Martin Eyerer, Stephan Hinz and Clint Stewart. For the future indeed something is coming up as we are working very hard on our next album.

This year you have played at major festivals such as Tomorrowland (Belgium), Awakenings (Netherlands) and Time Warp (Germany). What were the most memorable & the most terrible gigs you played and what were the funniest things occurring during your performances?

Tassilo: Time Warp and Awakenings are always festivals that are special for me. It’s hard to describe the atmosphere when you have not been there but we always count those to be the highlights for us to play. I also liked Sonos festival in Croatia this year where they threw tons of cloths and toys on the stage and asked us to sign it. That doesn’t happen so often. :)

Thomas: Funny is that I had a fight with three bouncers in Barcelona in 2011 when I smoked a cigarette at an Open Air in a wrong place. :)

You live in Germany’s capital city Berlin. What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife there? Do you have any nightlife related suggestions for first-time visitors?

Thomas: In terms of clubs I would say check out Watergate and Berghain to see two good sides. The rest is something you have to discover yourself when you are in Berlin as lots of great parties are only promoted shortly mouth to mouth and also the scene changes quite quickly. Something new and cool might come up in few months.

Tassilo: Agreed :) I would just say step into the first bar you see and start talking to people and ask them where to go and what to do.

In April 2013 you made your Bangkok Debut at Glow Nightclub. On 22.November you will return for an exclusive performance at WAX. Did you keep your previous show in good memory? What can Bangkok expect of your upcoming performance?

Tassilo: Yes correct, lets year was the first time we played in Bangkok and it was really great. It is always exciting to play at a city for the first time because you never really know what to expect. And at the end we were glad to see so many people celebrating with us.

Thomas: Bangkok can expect some Bad Ass Bass! :)
