Asics x Carnival Unveils 'Muay Thai' Streetwear Collection

Inspired by Thai cultural sport, the two brands collaborate on a new collection that embodies the Thai fighter spirit.

For the new collection, Carnival - Thai multi-brand store and streetwear brand - joined forces with Asics Tiger - Japanese sneakers brand associated with Onitsuka Tiger. Even if you’re not a sneakerhead, you should be familiar with the latter’s signature stripes on its shoes.

The ‘Muay Thai’ collection is inspired by Thailand’s cultural sport and martial art, borrowing elements from its iconic color scheme and design motifs.

During the launch party on July 26, the collection was featured prominently at Carnival HQ. The Siam Square Soi 7 store was transformed into a boxing ring, complete with a stage and ringside seats. It’s one blood-pumping way to catch the latest match, or in this case, brand-new sneakers.

Serving as the collection’s ‘prizefighter’ is Muay Thai Gel-DS Trainer OG. These running shoes are chock-full of footwear technology from impact-absorbing Gel to Duosole outsole, which offers supreme flexibility and traction.

The Gel-DS Trainer has been redesigned, now featuring off-white materials such as the tongue mesh, leather upper, and suede overlays.

The dashing red & blue pattern is a reference to each corner of the fighting ring. The left shoe is dressed in blue, while the right is sporting red; both feature metallic golden bands and graphic on the insole. Also, the Thai word “Muay” and “Thai” in golden prints are stamped on each heel.

Other than the kicks, the box contains red & blue shoelaces and cord locks (two for each color), as well as two cute, sneakers-shaped and the word “Muay Thai” shaped keychains. The shoes currently sell for 5,500 THB.
