As the number of COVID-19 cases in Thailand continues to climb, we all must do our part to curb the infection rate by remaining vigilant and listen to medical professionals.

At a time like this, the elderly are among the most vulnerable groups, as they’re highly susceptible to the coronavirus.

Fortunately, helping the senior citizens of Bangkok is Covid Bangkok Aid’s mission. Entirely run by volunteers, the group works hard organizing charity and social services even in this time of crisis.

Covid Bangkok Aid is founded by a group of independent volunteers. Their main goal is to support the elderly as well as people with disabilities in Bangkok during the COVID-19 lockdown.

By creating this project, the group wishes to see people helping each other in the crisis, and provide care to those in need.

Right now, Covid Bangkok Aid is calling for volunteers to join the campaign. You can sign up on the Covid Bangkok Aid website. After you’ve provided your details, the team will pair up volunteers who can support the elderly.

Among others, your responsibility is to shop for groceries, supplies, medicine, and other necessities such as hand sanitizers at convenience stores and supermarkets.

Then, you’ll deliver the package to the elderly’s homes, allowing them to stay in and not expose themselves to the risk of infection. To ensure the safety of everyone involved, Covid Bangkok Aid imposes social distancing on the delivery process.

Stuck in a quarantine yourself? You can still help by giving a phone call to those in need of a distraction. In such time, friendly interaction with another person can do much to help reduce stress and create a sense of calm.

If you can’t commit to volunteering right now, there are still many ways you can help and support the charity project. For instance, you can donate directly to Covid Bangkok Aid. Every 500 THB translates to four care packages, which include food, medicine, hand wipes, toilet paper, and snacks, for the elderly or anyone in need.

Finally, the easiest way to support Covid Bangkok Aid is to spread the project’s information on every channel that you can. Make sure everyone around you know that volunteer projects such as this exist even as we’re facing the pandemic.

Regardless of what you decide to do, we’re sure that you’ve helped to stop the disease from spreading. We’ll get through this together!
