5 Sports Bars Worthy of Calling Home Ground Near Sukhumvit

5 Sports Bars Worthy of Calling Home Ground Near Sukhumvit

You are an expat, you are new in town, and you have no friends. Rather than going out clubbing alone and hoping that someone will talk to you, why not find a better way to make that connection. If only there was something that you could do with a group of people that was so intimate, yet so entertaining at the same time. Something that makes strangers hold hands while jumping up and down together or close their eyes while they are waiting to watch a climactic moment. If only…BUT WAIT! There is! Sports!

Long before you arrived in the City of Angels, you supported some team. Whether it was football (hand-egg), football (soccer), basketball, baseball, rugby, swimming (?), or cricket, supporting one of these teams back home once made you kiss a stranger. Well, who is to say you cannot do that here in your new home that is Bangkok! Siam2nite has compiled a list of 5 sports bars worthy of calling “home ground” where you can meet some Mancunian buddies hammering down a pint and complaining about how bad the red side of town are doing as well as meet a Lakers fan wishing Steph Curry played for the richer side of town. Whoever it is that you want to meet, you can probably meet in one of these 5 spots, in no particular order:

#1 The Drunken Leprechaun

Sukhumvit Soi 15 (see map)

The Drunken Leprechaun recently opened up its doors in Bangkok by replacing the location once occupied by the Beer Vault at the ground floor of the Four Points Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 15. Priding itself as one of the friendliest Irish pubs in town, the team running the place clearly have something special to offer you. While you sit back and watch multiple live sporting programs on their screens try out their alcoholic milkshakes (what?!) or if you prefer, why not have a beer ice-cream, both of which are surprisingly tasty! The laid-back atmosphere will surely make you come back to enjoy your game, especially they have a daily happy hour from 16:00 to 20:00. Follow them on Facebook here for all the latest programs and promotions.

Opening Hours: Every day from 10:00 to 01:00

#2 The Sportsman Bar

Sukhumvit Soi 13 (see map)

As a sports fan, you like a lot of TV screens – it is almost comforting to have something showing on TV at all times regardless of whether you care about it or not. So when you walk into The Sportman Bar and see all types of sports being shown on over 26 TVs and 8 HD projectors, you might just be in sport bar heaven. With their large selection of brews, it is likely you will be able to find a different beer to pair with your food every day of the week. And being the considerate bar that they are, their food is a blend of western favorites with Thai influences which ensures that you will not be eating “heavy, gut-busting meals when you’re playing pool (for free) or watching the game”. The bar itself opens from 08:00 to 02:00 every day (an amazing fact on its own), and if ever a game runs over that time, it is likely they will stay opened just for you! Follow them on Facebook here for all the latest programs and promotions.

Opening Hours: Every day from 08:00 to 02:00

#3 Hooters

Sukhumvit Soi 15 (see map) & Sukhumvit Soi 4 (Nana)

There are two to choose from and they are not far apart. If you think we are talking about anything other than the two brand new locations of Hooters in Bangkok, then you are quickly missing out. Having opened in quick succession, the two locations are not far from each other which gives you even more choice. And who hates choice? The American chain retains its quirky vibe that mixes a fun and vibrant atmosphere with some serious food and drinks. Service is always on point from the extremely friendly staff and there is always a sports program showing. Whether it is the premier league or the NFL, make sure you go in ready to get your hands dirty from their flawless Hooter wings. Follow them on Facebook here (for the Soi 15 branch) and here (for the Nana branch) for all the latest programs and promotions.

#4 Roadhouse Barbecue

Rama 4 (see map)

Roadhouse Barbecue makes sure your sport watching experience is flawless. From the rotating craft beers on offer to their mouthwatering buffalo wings and baby back ribs, the experience of watching the game of your choice will be backed up with some classic eats. The hard part about going to Roadhouse Barbecue then becomes what you should focus on more: what is on the screen or what is on your plate! Luckily for all of us, we do not have to make a choice because the team at Roadhouse Barbecue makes sure there are enough screens for us to eat and enjoy the game at the same time. We recommend that for games, go to their main branch at Rama 4 as it is bigger and fitted with more screens. Follow them on Facebook here for all the latest programs and promotions.
