5 Must-see Concerts Happening in Bangkok This August 2018

With Boyce Avenue, Celine Dion, and Honne taking Bangkok by storm just last month in July, one would think that it would be hard to top such a massive lineup of music acts. However, we’ve been proven wrong as billings of shows in August roll around, and it is just as astounding. We’ve put together a list of 5 must-see concerts across the genres that you shouldn't miss out on this coming August of 2018.

Mike Shinoda

Mike Shinoda, notably known as the songwriter, rapper, and producer of Linkin Park, will be making a stop in Bangkok as part of his upcoming Post Traumatic Tour - his first tour as a solo artist. The artist named the release of his first album “Post Traumatic” as “it’s a journey out of grief and darkness, not into grief and darkness” following the passing of bandmate Chester Bennington. Popular releases off his album include “Crossing A Line”, “About You” featuring Blackbear and “Over You”. Mike Shinoda will be performing on the 9th of August at GMM Live House @ Central World. Tickets are now on sale at 1,600 / 2,800 Baht on Thai Ticket Major.

Nine Inch Nails

Dubbed as a 'musical, visual, emotional sensory onslaught’ by the New York Times, Trent Reznor formed Nine Inch Nails back in the year 1988. Over the years, they have released eight globally acclaimed studio albums, one of which hit number one on the US Billboard 200 (With Teeth). The band have sold over 30 million records for hit singles ‘The Hand That Feeds’, ‘Only’, ‘Every Day Is Exactly the Same’ and ‘Survivalism’ and have won two Grammy awards for Best Metal Performance. Nine Inch Nails will be performing at Monster Studio on the 14th of August. Tickets are currently on sale at 3,000 baht on Ticket Melon.

Clean Bandit

British electronic band Clean Bandit are set to perform their first ever performance in Bangkok at Centerpoint Studio Thailand Sukhumvit 105 (Soi Lasalle) on the 22nd of August. The trio is made up of Grace Chatto and brothers Jake and Luke Patterson and are known for their clever blend accompanying music instruments with electronic, pop and disco funk styles. Notable chart topping singles of the band include include “Rockabye”, “I Miss You”, “Symphony”, and “Rather Be”, the latter of which made it to number one on charts in the UK and several other countries. They were also awarded a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Tickets are now on sale at 1,900 and 2,600 baht on Thai Ticket Major.

Tom Misch

British producer/singer/songwriter Tom Misch released his debut album “Geography”, featuring “Lost in Paris”. Having grown up inspired by J Dilla during his teenage years, Misch current style combines hip-hop beats with heartfelt lyrics and guitar sounds. He first began releasing music online in 2012 and collaborated with local singer/songwriter Carmody, who also appeared on Beat Tape 2 and Misch’s EP 5-Day Mischon, a collective of five songs that were recorded in five days. This coming August 25th sees Misch perform in Thailand for the first time at Moonstar Studio 1. Unfortunately, tickets are sold out at the time of writing.

Getsunova Concert Atmosphere

Chang Music Connection presents Getsunova’s first ever large-scale concert on the 25th of August at the Thunder Dome Muangthong Thani. First formed 12 years ago, the quartet has since amassed over 600 million counts across their music, and have released a studio album as well as an extensive discography to their name. “Gai Kae Nai Kue Glai (How Far Is Near?)”, “Kham Tam Sueng Rai Khon Tob (Question without Answer)”, “Yoo Trong Nee Nan Gwa Nee (Can You Stay Longer?)” and “Dod Diew Dueai Gan (Alone Together),” are among their popular hits. In addition to playing countless shows in Thailand, Getsunova has also performed at Summersonic in Japan as well as in Australia and the UK. Tickets are currently on sale at 3,000 / 2,000 / 1,300 baht on Thai Ticket Major.
