12 Must-see Concerts Happening in Bangkok This September 2018

The past few months saw HONNE, Mike Shinoda, Celine Dion and many more big names grace the stages here in Bangkok. This coming September however will indeed be one for the books. With world renowned acts from DJs to rappers to alternative bands all stopping by Thailand, there’s bound to be too many good ones to choose from! We’ve curated a list of thirteen must-see concerts happening in Bangkok this September of 2018.

KLLO

Kllo comes in the form of a musical collaboration between Australian cousins Simon Lam and Chloe Kaul. The duo returns with mesmerizing music in the form of sophomore EP Wel I Worn, featuring Lam’s one of a kind production and Kaul’s whimsical vocals and songwriting. Popular tunes of Kllo include outstanding first single “Make Me Wonder”, “False Calls” and “Walls to Build”. The duo have graced the stages both locally (Splendour in the Grass, Melbourne Music Week and Dark Mofo) and internationally (Great Escape, Primavera Sound) in just a mere 18 months, proving that this is just indeed only the beginning. Kllo will be performing on the 1st of September at De Commune. Tickets are currently on sale at 650 baht on Ticketmelon.

Movements

Hailing from Southern California, quartet Movements have inspired many with their unique style of lyrics, melodies and song craft. The group was able to land a deal with Fearless Records after one local gig, proving just how talented they are. Their debut EP “Outgrown Things” has impressed many, including high praise from Alternative Press and New Noise Magazine. Some of their popular tracks include “Nineteen”, “Kept” and “Colourblind. Movements will be performing on the 3rd of September at De Commune Liberty Plaza Building, Thong Lor. Tickets are currently on sale at 750 THB on Eventpop.

FungJai Hed Sod #6

Fungjai Hedsod returns with their 6th installment and a spooky theme! With the tagline “Do you believe in ghosts?”, fans are invited to an interactive experience featuring their favorite singing artists. Acts on the billing include Phum Viphurit, TELEx TELEXs, Boyjozz, INSPIRATIVE, Monotone Group and Retrospect. Fungjai Hedsod 6 will be held on the 8th of September 2018 at Voice Space from 5PM. Tickets are currently on sale at a regular price of 800THB and on a promotion of 600THB for people purchasing a group bundle on Ticketmelon.

Sanamluang Music Playtime

The conceptual Sanam Music Playtime brand is back for their fourth edition following successful past years. The event allows fans to enjoy an all round music experience at a location right downtown of Bangkok. Acts on the billing include Blues Tape, Srirajah Rockers, The Superglasses Ska Ensemble and The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band on the first day, and West of East, Poomjit, Zero Hero ft. Hugo and Apartment Khunpa on the second. Sanam Luang Playtime S4 will be held on the 8th and 9th of September at Metro Life Park from 2PM to 10PM each day. Entry is free and open to the public.

Jay Sean

Premiere nightclub Levels’ weekly Thursday night events have indeed been taken onto another level with the recent announcement of a live show by multi-million selling and platinum award winning artist Jay Sean. Regarded as one of the most influential South Asian acts to date, Jay Sean has collaborated with many artists such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Hardwell and has truly pushed the boundaries of urban music. Some of his popular tunes include own”, “Stolen”, "Make my Love Go", and "Do You Remember". Jay Sean will be performing at Levels Club on the 13th of September. Tickets are currently on sale at 690 THB inclusive of one drink on Ticketmelon and will be 890THB at the door on the day of the event.

Dua Lipa

Born to Albanian parents from Kosovo, London based Dua Lipa has taken the world by storm following the release of her debut album. She first gained the attraction of Lana Del Rey’s management team after appearing on a The X factor commercial. Since then, she has gone on to have three simultaneous charing singles in the UK Top 15 with “Scared to Be Lonely” with Martin Garrix, “No Lie” with Sean Paul and “Be The One”. Her next single “New Rules” became her first number one single in the UK and on several European charts! A total of over three billion streams across music platforms makes her one of the most highly streamed acts in the world. Dua Lipa will be performing on the 17th of September at the GMM Live House at Central World. Tickets are currently on sale at 3,000 and 2,000 baht on Thai Ticket Major.

The Killers

Las Vegas based four-piece The Killers first formed in the year 2003. With countless of awards to their name, including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards, NME Awards and more, The Killers have indeed cemented their spot within the artistic scene. Fan favorites include “Mr. Brightside”, “All These Things That I’ve Done,” massive single “Human.” The Killers will be performing on the 17th of September at Thunder Dome, Muangthongthani. Tickets are currently on sale at 2,800 THB for standing category B. Unfortunately, tickets for standing category A have sold out at the time of writing.

Mangosteen Music Festival #2

Following the first edition of Mangosteen Music Festival earlier this year with two consecutive dates featuring Honne, the organizers are back for a second round. Mangosteen Music Festival #2 sees an appearance by British alt-rock band Wolf Alice. The British quartet is known for the tracks “Beautifully Unconventional”, “Heavenward” and “Moaning Lisa Smile”. Joining Wolf Alice as support are two popular female acts hailing from Thailand - Violette Wautier and Yellow Fang. Mangosteen Music Festival #2 will be held on the 15th of September at Voice Space. The Rapper Concert

Following launch of successful series “The Rapper”, a competition in search for the next big talent with the bars and rhythm to match, BEX Organizers have decided to out together a rap centric concert for fans to enjoy! Acts on the billing include UrboyTJ, Twopee Southside, Louis of 1Flow, artists from The Rapper themselves, and many more! The Rapper concert will be held on the 22nd of September from 7PM onwards at Bitec Bangna (Hall 106). Tickets are currently on sale at 3,000/2,500/2,000/1,500/1,000 THB and at 40,000/45,000 THB for VIP packages of 10 tickets.

D.A.N.

Formed the summer of 2014 in Tokyo, D.A.N’s enchanting mix of modern alt-pop has been described as a crossover between Caribou and The XX. The trio have since won the hearts of fans in Japan and beyond. Their performance at the prestigious Fuji Rock Festival led to the band’s start in opening for James Blake and The XX’s shows. Having widely been dubbed as one of Tokyo’s most exciting emerging prospects, the three cite underground house and techno through to African and psychedelic music as their influences. Some of their popular tunes include “Native Dancer” and “Chance”. D.A.N will be performing on the 23rd of September at PLAY YARD by Studio Bar (Ladprow Soi 8) with Summer Dress as their opening act. Boney M

Relive the 80s and 90s’ disco era with the legendary Boney M themselves! Originally created by Frank Farian, the Euro-Caribbean group have since sold over 80 million records and performed in sold out venues across the world. Their mesmerizing showcases are bound to catch the eyes of people of all ages! Today, the band performs under various line-ups of different personnel. Renowned tracks of Boney M include “Rasputin”, “Daddy Cool”, “Rivers of Babylon”, and “Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holi-Holiday”. Boney M will be performing on the 15th of September at Bitec Bangna Convention Center (Hall 105). Tickets are currently on sale at 6,000 / 4,500 / 3,500 / 2,500 and 1,500 THB on Thai Ticket Major.

Single Festival Bangkok

Single Festival comes as a series of music concert events curated by SangSom and ZAAP that features a collective of popular regional acts across major cities in Thailand - Khon Kaen, Bangkok, Udon Thani, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. Artists on the billing include Klear, Cocktail, Bodyslam, Palmy and Potato. Bangkok’s edition of Single Festival will take place on the 22nd of September at Bitec Bangna. Unfortunately, tickets are currently sold out at the time of writing.
