1. Mulligans Irish Bar
Mulligans Irish Bar is a popular destination amongst both locals as well as tourists getting a basic taste of the Khaosan environment. This venue is considered as a pub and restaurant, built using wood and designed based on the colonial times. The bar counter itself is 10 meters in length, besides that there are also other types of seating areas available as well.
They serve both Thai and international dishes, with a variety of drinks for you to choose from. There are two different happy hours: 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm and 2:00 am – 4:00 am to get you going. Apart from that, there are also live bands playing depending on the time of day.
The venue is located on the second floor of Buddy Lodge, and it's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Should your night get out of hand, you can even book a room at the Buddy Lodge to sleep off your imminent hangover!
2. Brick Bar
Brick Bar is another well-known and long-standing destination within the Khaosan area, with music focusing on the reggae and ska variety. There are three bands playing each night.
The design is based on a Western theme, built with red bricks as the name states. Inside the bar, you can choose whether you want to sit at the bar, around a private table, or even step up your dance game at the designated dance floor.
3. Bangkok Bar
Bangkok Bar is another well-known and long-standing venue that has been operating at Khaosan for a very long time. This venue boasts various types of areas, whether it be a two-story outdoor seating area with chill-out music or an indoor zone featuring live bands as well as a DJ booth.
If you do head over to Bangkok Bar, you may start outside in laid-back atmosphere, and eventually move inside to a more upbeat vibe. The venue is designed with an oriental theme, with of various types of lamps, paintings, and colorful furniture, all unique in their own way. Like most places, they serve a combination of both international and local cuisines for you to choose from.
They have different operating times depending on the weekday: from Mondays to Wednesdays (6:00 pm – 2:00 am), Thursdays (6:00 pm – 2:00 am), Fridays and Saturdays (6:00 pm – 3:00 am), and on Sundays (6:00 pm – 2:00 pm the following day).
4. The Club
The Club is another location that has been in existence for a very long time and is also a location that is popular with tourist and locals alike. They offer a wide range of electronic dance music genres, with a focus on commercial House music. The DJ booth is elevated and huge, with a spacious dance floor in front of it.
Everything inside is edged towards a modern design, fitted with lasers as well as smoke machines to add even more to the already upbeat atmosphere. The menu features some finger food, but drinks are their main focus. With that in mind, if you’re thinking about heading here, be sure to get a full meal in beforehand.
5. 999 West
999 West is a popular location among tourist as well as locals given that they have multiple themes built into one place. They focus on a country design, but are also updated with added features normally found in a sports bar.
There are a wide range of arcade games available and they run multiple sports channels to fit the needs and desires of their customers. Like most of the venues at Khaosan, there are multiple genres of music being played here, with the menu consisting of both food as well as drinks.
6. Hippie de Bar
Hippe de Bar is a hip and trendy destination which began as a location for a clothing store, but given that the area was rather large, they eventually added a bar into their space. All the furniture used as their designs are kept in retro style, with each seating area built around a unique theme.
The music here focuses mainly on reggae as well as pop music made famous during the 60s to the 80s. They serve a variety of food and drinks, but their signature menus are the cocktails, with a host of various types and ingredients to choose from.
