[Recap] Transmission: The Lost Oracle Delivered On Her Promise

March 10th, 2017 might as well be marked as the day trance music proclaimed its status as a powerhouse genre in Thailand. The emergence can be credited to no other than Transmission Festival 2017 which minted BITEC’s newest giant hall by creating an arena for leading trance DJs to showcase their musical talents alongside a larger-than-life show. It would be hard to argue now that Thailand is not a burgeoning hub for electronic music in general and that this boiling pot is destined for only bigger and better shows.

The awesome part about Transmission Festival is that the organizers stayed true to their core values and simply made it accessible to the masses. For those who went, surely you saw it in the eyes of the person standing right beside you how immersed they were in the whole experience. But for the less fortunate who were stuck with other engagements, listen up because these are the top 5 things we enjoyed the most about Transmission Festival 2017.

Uncompromising Show

We were promised at least 10 23-watt RGB lasers and 8 8-watt green lasers unavailable in Asia to be imported directly from Europe to be installed for the night that together with the pyro, the stage, the smoke would create an elaborate combination of effects. We were definitely not left disappointed. For an indoor festival, the organizers managed to use every inch of the hall to ensure that the experience was made extremely complete.

Smoke was shot from the ceilings, flares were sent through the halls, lasers danced with the crowd all night long – it was a stunning way for Transmission Festival to open up in Asia for the very first time. The whole show set on the gorgeous 23-meter stage really came to life and made sure that the buzzing halls of BITEC remembered the name Transmission for years to come.

A Trance DJ Showcase

Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten presents Gouryella, Aly & Fila, John O’Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Omnia, Drift Moon, and even Lonskii all came with their full energy. The DJs were clearly in Asia to play for real. It was hard to find a full moment, and even when it was not a DJ on stage but the visual specialists like Vision Impossible showcasing their Transmix, it was STILL epic.

The music was continuously uplifting all night – fitting of a trance event – and it gave the audience exactly what they came for. The beauty of trance is that it really makes you fall in love with a moment and so with that type of music echoing loud and clear through the crisp industry-standard sounds of the Funktion One speakers that were imported directly from England just for this show, love was definitely enhanced to be all around.

The Vibe

At around 19:00 the halls were literally packed. What?! Transmission Festival 2017 did not just attract local crowds, it attracted people from all around the world. There were multiple nationalities being represented making the event an international success as well. And with such a large group of people with diverse backgrounds bringing a truckload of positive vibes with them, there was a certain pull that really made the show feel good right at the door.

Because let us all be real, if something did not feel that good, there was no way an event like this could fill its halls straight from the beginning. Anyone who arrived at the event can walk inside the main hall and feel a certain embrace in the vibe that was surely created by the air, the ambience, and the sounds so artistically crafted together. Call us dreamers, but it’s a feeling you will understand if you were there.

Organization and Management

It was clear that Transmission Festival was run by professionals. We were told since the beginning that a team of 25 members from the original Transmission Europe crew would come and ensure that the Lost Oracle show in Bangkok perfectly mirrors the one that was organized in Prague – and well frankly, we believe them.

The entry was easy, the drink lines were short, there was ample drinks all event long, and the show was so grand that we even questioned if this was better than the original! There were no hiccups that we could see all night and the event just felt smooth, just like the music we were listening to. Imagine running your hand down a piece of the finest silk, that was how smooth the event felt. Kudos to the Transmission team.

Multiple Sponsors

For some, it may not feel as important but for those of us who like to enjoy a drink or two while enjoying the sights and sounds this point really hit home. Having multiple sponsors meant there was a large choice of drinks that you could choose from.

There was Chang and their beer, Jack Daniel’s and their whiskey, Finlandia and their vodka, as well as Rekorderlig and their cider. Add to that extensive list Red Bull and Coca-Cola and you have a drink selection that is larger than any other festival we have been to. With such a large selection of drinks prices were also not inflated and it truly made the experience an enjoyable night all around.

Again, if you did not make it do not feel sad. Transmission Festival Asia has planted its trance seed and now the roots have clearly been growing at exponential speed. There will be another event in the near foreseeable future so just keep your eyes and ear open so you prepare for it in advance next time.
